What to bring: 9 essentials for your content day

Content Days are becoming ever more popular for businesses and personal brands, not least because you can capture a lot of photos and footage in just a few hours. This content can be used for websites, social media, ebooks and other downloads, press and media kit images, marketing emails, and anything else you can think of.

The Createry offers various different styles, colours and lighting options across a range of different spaces (plus the outdoor area!), so it’s a great opportunity to capture a variety of looks for yourself, clients, team, or products.

Here’s a list of what to bring to make the most of your day.

Power bank
You don’t want to run out of phone charge midway through the day and miss something important! Some compact and mirrorless cameras will also let you charge them from a power bank, which is great if you’re moving between floors and rooms.

Retractable multiway USB cable
These are super useful because you can charge three different types of devices without needing to bring a tangle of different cables or chargers. Being retractable means you can make them as short or long as you like, so they’re suitable for carrying around easily but also stretching from plug sockets if needed. (If you forget yours or don’t have one, you can borrow one from the coworking floor of The Createry).

Clip-on ring light (or light clip)
Create more flattering light for behind the scenes selfies and videos in an instant. If you’re sharing behind the scenes throughout the day, this also means less on-the-go editing.

Gimbal
Make your videos effortlessly steady with a handy gimbal. They’re also useful to grab a bit of extra height or an angle that you wouldn’t otherwise get – perfect for those shots that look a little bit different.

SD cards/microSD cards/USB sticks
Whatever flavour of storage you need for your content, having fresh spares to hand is never a bad thing. If part of your workflow is to edit at The Createry after your clients leave, this also means you can quickly and easily make copies or backups.

Forgotten yours? Don’t worry – you can pick them up from The Createry for a very reasonable extra cost!

Screen wipes
Make sure you know exactly what you’re photographing or videoing (and remove any bits of real life fluff or specks at the time to save on the editing) with a shiny clean screen.

Tripods in different sizes
A small desk tripod can be useful for behind the scenes phone shoots, reels, tiktoks etc. If you prefer a full size one and don’t want to lug it along, we have full size phone and camera tripods that you’re welcome to borrow (subject to availability).

Specific beauty products
If you or your clients love specific brands of hair spray, dry shampoo, and similar, bring ‘em along! Plus any makeup or touch up tools needed. Alternatively, The Createry bathrooms have hair spray, dry shampoo, nail files and scissors, tweezers, and a few other bits and pieces if needed! Light up makeup mirrors are also available at no extra cost).

Spare (fully charged!) batteries and other equipment
If you’re shooting with a camera as well as a phone, any photographer or videographer will tell you that spare batteries are a must.

A spare phone or camera, if you have them, can also be very useful. They give you more options instantly for different light and settings, and you never know what could happen so it’s best to be as prepared as you can!

Add a bit of extra fun

Polaroid-style snaps: Our Polaroid-style camera is free to use with any booking, and you can bring your own film or pick up packs of 10 shots from us. They make super cute props for flatlays, are fun for posing or holding out in a group shot (especially for people who aren’t sure what to do with their hands!), and are a fun takeaway/memento for photography clients or event guests.

Custom props: We can personalise tote bags, mini drawstring bags, pendant banners, makeup/cable/travel/pencil cases, notebooks, t-shirts, hoodies, and more for a reasonable extra cost (and a bit of notice!). Just drop us an email with your idea for an idea of prices.

Snack upgrade: Add premium hot drinks (a range of Tassimo coffee pods, hot chocolates and green mint tea, plus Twinings teas) and Borders biscuits for £2.50 per person. Fancy coffee – especially in our glass mugs – is a nice addition to your photo shoot snaps and reels too!

And if you need anything, you know where we are – enjoy your content day!
